For those of you who may not know, I traveled to Chicago last Saturday and Sunday to visit our friend Carlos Sanchez and the church he pastors in NW Chicago. I enjoyed my time with him and his family and had the sacred privilege of serving them as they celebrated a “Friend Day.” There is an amazing and powerful ministry happening there as they serve and lead many who are coming out of the gang and drug culture. I will look forward to telling you more about that on Sunday. Let’s remember to pray for Carlos, his family, and the church he leads as they serve faithfully with very little resource and yet they are seeing God do huge and powerful things in many lives.
This week we will wrap up our “Stuffology” Series with a message entitled: “Increasing Your ‘Line Of Credit.’” Just remember, there are many kinds of credit and I think you will be pleasantly surprised at just how good this kind of credit is. I’ll admit that as I did some real digging this week into what Jesus says in Luke 6. I ran into one of those “mysteries” of God that I can’t fully explain, but I like it a ton. I want to invite you to dig in with me on Sunday and I’ll tell you what I’ve found that has inspired and encouraged me. I think you will be encouraged and inspired as well.
Another very exciting development to share with you is the announcement of our new Student Ministry Pastor. Brandon Holbrook and his wife Corie will be with us on Sunday to meet all of you and we will have a reception after each of our Worship Experiences where you will be able to talk with them. I am excited about their arrival and I know all of our Middle School and High School Students and their families will be blessed by Brandon’s leadership and influence in their lives. Let’s be praying for Brandon and Corie as they make their transition from Oklahoma City to Wichita.
I certainly don’t need to remind you about our current economic conditions and the havoc this downturn is creating in all of our lives. This is one of those times in our lives when we will have the greatest opportunity to see God do what only God can do. In the midst of all that is happening around us, let’s make certain to keep our eyes on God, and keep our eyes open for those who are in need. Many are in need of provision for jobs, finances, wisdom, decisions, and for God’s powerful guidance in their lives. Let’s be in constant prayer for all who need God’s intervention and provision and listen closely for the ways He will use us to be His hands and feet.
Thanksgiving is here and it always serves as a good reminder of all that we have to be thankful for. I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who have given to meet some specific needs recently. Several of you have given to purchase some trees to replace several of those that have died on this property. Thanks for giving to make God’s property a beautiful place!! Thank you also to those who have been giving to provide for families at Christmas time. Thanks also to the Care Team, led by Linda McMillin, who have coordinated, served, packed, and provided for many families during this Holy-Day Season. Your generosity and love is amazing and appreciated.
Remember to keep a close eye on the web site so you don’t miss any important information! Our next message series will begin next Sunday as we begin the Advent Season. The series is entitled: A Stable Encounter and will focus on the many ways God leads us from chaos into stability and we will focus specifically on how that works through family.
Receive all God has for you! He probably has more for you than you realize.
See You Sunday!
Dennis
